Twitch and brands

The Internet is advancing very fast. Nowadays the concept of leisure has changed as well as the way of working. Do you know that you can earn money from the sofa of your home? Yes yes, you read that right.

Meet Twitch, the streaming platform where you can share your passion live and earn a little extra money.

Twitch appears on the scene to stand up to Youtube streaming transmissions, its goal was to occupy a space that the video platform had not taken into account, the E-Sports and video game streaming…

Since its birth in 2011, the streaming platform has become the platform of choice for millions of gamers around the world to broadcast live games, becoming one of the main sources of all internet traffic in the United States. In 2014, due to the success of the platform, the giant Amazon decided to buy it for no less than 1 billion dollars.

How does Twitch work?

You may be wondering how Twitch can be a profitable platform, but the answer is simple. Twitch’s business model relies on money from subscribers, in-stream ads and bitcoin or donations.

Insertion of In – Stream ads:

Before being able to play ads in our live streams and monetize for these, it is necessary that Twitch verifies us as affiliates, for this, we must meet a series of requirements such as streaming for a certain number of hours and on different days, as well as reaching a minimum number of followers.

The platform will insert ads in all streams of those who are not subscribers to the channel or do not have a Twitch Prime account, i.e. an Amazon Prime account linked to their Twitch channel. In the case of ads inserted for non-subscribers, the channel creator only earns revenue from such advertising when they are a Partner on Twitch, once this status is reached, ads can be inserted manually.

Subscriptions:

Another way for the public to support their favorite creator is by subscribing to the channel.

With this subscription, viewers obtain certain privileges (personalized emoticons, subscription medals, exclusive retransmissions, etc.).

There are different types of subscriptions:

  • Subscription for one month for 5€.
  • Two months for 10€.
  • 5 months for 25€.

Users with an Amazon Prime account linked to their Twitch profile will get a free subscription each month.

Bits

Bits are Twitch’s donation system. They feature various animations and medals that serve to recognize the support of the most involved followers with the channel.

For each bit, one cent is contributed to the creator, from which the platform obtains a commission between 10-20% of the quality paid for them.

Twitch, influencer marketing and brands

Knowing all this, how can we take advantage of Twitch? The first thing to keep in mind is that 55% of Amazon Prime users are between 18 and 34 years old, making it one of the best places to reach millennial and centennial audiences.

Twitch is mainly focused on the gaming world, but influencers on this platform can effectively recommend all kinds of brands. In addition, Twitch is first and foremost a social network that, unlike Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, runs in real time and therefore becomes the best current platform for streaming,

Brands don’t have to limit themselves to just sponsoring streamers, they can also create their own content for their community and even go live with influencer profiles from their own profile. The key to making this work in the long run will be to create engaging and entertaining content for the audience.

Who said Twitch was only for gamers? Cooking, Fitness, Beauty… Will these contents come to Twitch to stay? Will their use extend beyond the world of video games?
